I feel that my opinion matters to YOU, and most of the time YOU agree with me.

This past weekend my little sister, 18yrs old, got her first tattoo. Before she got it she called me and asked for my advice because, I have 2 of my own tattoo’s and more importantly she wanted me to get her a deaimages.jpgl (cause I know people): ). The first thing I asked her was where she was planning on getting it on her body. The answer I got from her was the last thing any big brother wants to her….. “Im gonna get in on my lower back”.  I replied with “NOOOOOOOO!!!” To make a long story short, I convinced her to change her mind and get it somewhere else on her body.

I think I speak for everyone, that girls with lower back tattoo’s or “tramp stamps” as I like to call them, are very trashy and so not classy : ).  I don’t mind tatoos on females, infact most of the time I think its sexy. But lower back tattoo’s are definetly a no-no.

At the beginning of the whole lower back tat phase I could understand that girls wanted to be cool and different, but now its just cliche and stupid!

Everyday I see more and more tramp stamps. Why on earth would a girl go and get one of those when they know they will be made fun of and, more importantly, classified as a “SLUT”? Its absloutly mind boggling to me…..

Whats your opinion?

We’ll talk about it tonight at 7:15

Love Kas

I’m a pretty avid listener to pxy and heard your bit about “tramp stamps.” I got my so-called tramp stamp in 2004 just after my dad died. I did a butterfly since the funeral home did a big butterfly release. My dad was an amazing man but would have killed me for getting a tattoo! It was almost funny thinking about how mad he would have been, especially since I was 35 years old!

Here’s my reasoning for the location of the tattoo. I have had three children and consider myself to have a good bikini body (who knows how much longer that will last!) I am a third grade teacher and didn’t want a tattoo that my students could see. I also do a lot of charity work for Golisano Children’s Hospital so I go to fancy events. I hate seeing women with a gorgeous dress on and a tat sticking out whether it be on the shoulder, foot, ankle, etc. My sister (who is almost 50) and my 23 year old niece have tons of tattoos and I personally think they look trashy. On the lower back, a tattoo can be shown only if you want it to. Just my opinion though ………

Dubbed tramp stamp by popular consent, it is hardly appropriate to generalize that everyone with a stamp must therefore also be a tramp. You are so tired of these tattoos because everyone has one. This is true for everyone but it is only because at one point only a few people had these stamps, starting the blatantly popular trend. I guarantee they weren’t tattoos of butterflies (actually … no guarantees). How old does this tramp stamp have to be before they become exempt from the cliché?

With all that aside, who wouldn’t want a target? Without one, it would be like having a Corona without the lime. It’s good either way, but the lime is free. (no cliché intended)

Kas…I too have heard the term tramp stamp, and in many cases that term does fit the person with the lower back tattoo…however, I don’t think that it fits 100% of the time. When I was 18, I too got a lower back tattoo. This was 10 years ago before they were extremely popular. I chose to have my tattoo put on my lower back just because I was planning on being a professional woman and knew that if I had a visible tattoo I would be discriminated against when it came time to get a job. I have 2 other tattoos besides my lower back tattoo and they are also in discrete locations for the same reason still. I would just like to say that I am married now, I do not cheat on my husband nor have I ever cheated on him, and I was never one to sleep around. I guess I am not your typical owner of a “tramp stamp”. And by the way, my tattoo is not of a tribal symbol either.
